Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) Information

Pearl 433

Integrated Measuring Machines (CMMs) are designed to run on a workpiece surface. They provide accurate measurements of objects for design, testing, evaluation, profiling and reverse engineering of parts. Machines are available in a wide range of sizes and designs. They use different interfaces and modeling software.

Feature:
The CMM consists of three main components: the machine itself, the measuring screen, and the control or computing system with the appropriate measurement software. After placing the workpiece on the machine table, a probe is used to measure different points on it by mapping the x, y, z coordinate. The investigation operates automatically through an operator or through the control system. These points are then uploaded to a computer interface, where they can be analyzed for further development using modeling software (eg, CAD) and regression algorithms.

Application:
When selecting CMM, the user may want to consider the suitability of its design for the application. For shop floor CMM, the power of the equipment is an important consideration because these environments are more prone to either mechanical failures with dust or effect. For the inspection chamber CMM, the machine should be properly shaped with a flexible probe and advanced software to cover all possible variations or events.
